Springtime Rice

If you enjoyed our St Valentines Rice activity, here’s a variation on the theme for you. Using green powdered food colouring and a little water colour your rice. Then mix in some peppermint essence. Again be careful not to get it too wet while mixing or it will take an age to dry and be playable. Once it’s ready, pour it into the sensory bin to make a lovely green base for springtime frolics. We added some fake flowers, plastic eggs and little furry pom pom chicks (all from the local pound shop) as well as the usual pouring, sifting and digging tools. Isaac enjoyed filling the eggs with the rice to make little musical shakers but mostly he liked arranging the flowers. A future florist in the making!
